Film as an art form inevitably shapes each child’s taste, powers of observation, sensitivity, emotional responsiveness, and intellectual engagement. This speaks to the powerful impact of moving images, whose influence on a developing individual should not be overlooked. The core idea behind the Belgrade Film Club is to teach children how to watch films — to provide them with a space for learning, discovery, and reflection through exposure to new, artistically valuable content. Such content enriches their inner world, introduces them to a diversity of ideas, perspectives, and stories, and encourages them to reflect on the expressive means through which films leave an emotional and intellectual impact on viewers.
At the Belgrade Film Club, children discover the language of film through carefully selected screenings and guided discussions, while also exploring different styles, genres, and filmmakers, gradually developing their film literacy.
Dr Vesna Dinić Miljković, PhD in Theory of Dramatic Arts, Media and Culture, with a strong background in working with children, is the initiator of the Belgrade Film Club and the creator of its program. The program takes place in an authentic cinematic setting, in the cinema of Cultural Center “Parobrod” in Belgrade.
